Barry Welsh (John Sparkes) once had his own show in Wales on HTV Wales. Here you can re-live the series here as Barry introduces many of his old friends including; Hugh Pugh, Mf Ffff, Geraint Pillock the coracle man who’s always up for a challenge and the Animal Rescue Squad – ARS for short.

Of all the characters he plays in the series, John will only admit to being a little like show host Barry Welsh who not only hosts the show but does vox pops in the streets of Barry, Swansea and Pontypridd.

John was himself a teacher and, as all viewers know, Barry used to teach at Pantvest Comprehensive.
“When I was a teacher we wore clothes like Barry’s,” said John. “Barry is certainly the character closest to me but, of course, I don’t have that stupid tuft of hair at the back of my head.”
